The “peace of Christ”

Audio Bible study on Jn. 14:27-28 – “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.  28 Ye heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I go unto the Father: for the Father is greater than I” – with special focus on the “peace” promised by Jesus.

My Daddy fell into a deep well

Maybe you’ve heard the story about the little boy who went to school and his teacher asked, “So tell me class, what interesting event happened to you this week?” To why the little boy raised his hand and said, “My Daddy fell into a deep well.” “Oh my!” said the teacher, “Is he alright?” To which the little boy replied, “He must be because he quit crying for help yesterday.”

Friends, every day we find ourselves in the company of people who are hurting, in trouble, and in overt and covert ways are crying out for help. Therefore, I have two questions: 1. What have we done to answer those cries for help? 2. Have we incorrectly assumed that just because the cries have stopped that the problem has vanished?

Remember, being a Christian is much more than having the right answers to biblical questions. It’s also making oneself available to be used by Jesus to reach out to a hurting world with a healing message. Let’s be sure we share the love of Christ with our words and our deeds.

“By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35).

Mathematical Equations and the Bible

This free audio sermon on Mathematical Equations and the Bible is drawn from the sermon outline listed below.  I suspect it was an old chart or bed sheet lesson.  It was a new idea for me till last Sunday.

Here are a few spiritual truths that can be expressed to us from God’s Word in the form of mathematical equations:

Addition:

Bible + Man’s Doctrine = Condemnation (Mark 7:7-9; Revelation 22:18)

Belief + Baptism = Salvation. (Mark 16:16)

Repentance + Baptism = Salvation. (Acts 2:38)

Law + Transgression = Sin (1 John 3:4)

Faith + Virtue + Knowledge + Self-Control + Perseverance + Godliness + Brotherly Kindness + Love = Fruitfulness. (2 Peter 1:5-9)

Subtraction:

Bible — Part = Condemnation. (Revelation 22:19)

Body — Part That Causes You To Sin = No Offense. (Matthew 18:8-9)

Church — Disorderly Brethren = Purity. (2 Thessalonians 3:6)

Angry with brother — Cause = Danger of hell fire (Matthew 5:22)

Prayer — Ceasing = Diligence in prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Love — Dissimulation (hypocrisy) = Genuine love, agape

Body — Spirit = Dead Body; Faith — Works (of God) = Dead Faith (James 2:26)

Multiplication:

Disciples x Disciples = Growth. (Acts 6:1, 7; 5:31; 12:24)

7  0 x 7 = Figurative number describing forgiveness of our brethren . (Matthew 18:21-22)

Division:

Bible ÷ By Study = Proper Understanding. (2 Timothy 2:15)

House ÷ Against Self = Collapse. (Matthew 12:25)

Religious World ÷ By Men = Strife + Confusion. (1 Corinthians 1:10-13)

The following are from James 1:14-15 and describe the process of Temptation, Sin and Spiritual Death…

Desire (“own lust”) + Opportunity (“Enticed”) = Temptation (James 1:14

Temptation (“lust”) + Action (“conceived”)= Sin (James 1:15a)

Sin — Repentance (“when it is finished”) = Spiritual Death (James 1:15b)

Existence of God Supported by Mathematical Equation: 0 + 0 = 0

Atheists claim that before the “Big Bang” there was nothing; that, literally, the universe created itself from nothing. Yet, something is here (the universe) and since something cannot come form nothing, we must conclude that something or someone has always existed. That Someone is the Eternal God — Jehovah, the Self-existent One! The ultimate Number ONE!
