WANT TO GET RICH QUICK?

We have all heard about those “Get Rich Quick” schemes out there. They come in many different shapes and forms. Some are on TV, Internet, through informational sessions, some come from friends, and many other ways. On three different occasions I have either attended an “informational session” or been pressed by a friend about an opportunity to make more money. Even though some of these companies do not claim they are a “get rich quick” type of company, every time they have included information about some unknown person who made a lot of money on his very first month with the company. With this information comes the idea that every person who joins them is able to make just as much money, just as quick. Sounds a lot like the “get rich quick” idea.

The goal of this article is not to break down these companies. There may be some of these types of companies that actually work and are beneficial to people. You could even be part of one of these types of companies. The purpose of this article is to show how we can truly “get rich quick.” That’s right, there really is a sure-fire way you can get rich quick. How do you do it? I’m glad you asked. Here is the answer. If you want to get rich quick…count your blessings.

It is funny how focused we can get on the things that we want and the things that we do not have. What about the things that we already have? All of these types of things are blessings from God. Unfortunately, our culture has trained us to focus on what we want, what we lack, and what would make us happier. Most of us probably do not realize how rich we really are until we really think about all of the blessings we have in our lives. If we were to literally count every blessing from food to medical technology to toothbrushes, we would probably be surprised how richly blessed we are.

Even beyond all of the physical blessings we enjoy, God is incredibly generous with the spiritual blessings He gives to Christians. Ephesians 1:3 states, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” Even a person who does not have a lot of physical possessions can still be rich in spiritual blessings (Romans 2:4; Ephesians 1:7; 2:7). A follower of God will have access to, as Paul put it, “the unfathomable riches of Christ” (Ephesians 3:8).

While there are many “get rich quick” schemes out there, if we really want to get rich quick, the best way to do this is to count our blessings. Let’s slow down and realize just how blessed we really are physically and spiritually. When we do this, surely we will see how richly God has blessed us, and how incredibly rich that makes us.
