A million dollars and a bale of hay will be worth the same on Judgment Day

What’s Your Price?

Poor Esau will forever be known as a “profane” man for selling his birthright for a bowl of soup (Hebrews 12:16)! “How crazy is that,” we think? But before we judge him too harshly, we had better take a close look at ourselves.

I know of a husband and wife who were once faithful Christians. However they decided to start a lawn-care business and just couldn’t “waste” a Sunday on worship when they could be mowing.

You see, Esau isn’t all alone in his folly. He has company. This couple sold their “birthright” for a nicely manicured lawn, or more to the point – grass!

An elderly Christian lady, who is now deceased, once shared this with me…

“A million dollars and a bale of hay
will be worth the same on Judgment Day.”

For Esau it was a bowl of soup. For Judas, it was 30 pieces of silver. For the Christian couple I mentioned, it was green grass. What about you? Do you have a price? Give it some thought (Matthew 16:26).
