“THE GOD WHO WASN’T THERE”

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world (1 Peter 5:8-91 Peter 5:8-9
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

Sometimes Christians become complacent and start thinking that because they will not watch such movies, as “The God Who Wasn’t There,” that nobody else will either, or they think their own families will not be affected by such an attack.  Believe me; we have witnessed quite a few “strong” Christian families falling apart because they thought they were impervious to such attacks.  We need to have answers for those who attack our faith (1 Pet. 3:151 Pet. 3:15
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: fear: or, reverence

The Christian who sent this link to me made the following comments:

One of the best responses I know would be Jesus’ response to the Pharisees when they attacked his credentials (John 5:31-36John 5:31-36
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. 32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. 33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. 34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. 35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. 36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

—especially verse 36).  Jesus simply referred them to the miracles he had done!  What can anyone say?  Nicodemus understood that miracles testified Jesus was from God (John 3:2John 3:2
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

).  The unbelieving Jews knew exactly what the miracles meant (John 6:2John 6:2
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

).  The Jews silenced the Pharisees with the same evidence that they themselves had seen (John 7:31John 7:31
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

31 And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?

).  The blind man silenced the Pharisees with the same obvious evidence (John 9:16John 9:16
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

).  The Chief Priests themselves along with the Pharisees acknowledged that they were helpless against such evidence.  Peter reminded them of the fact the God gave Jesus His witness that not one Jew could deny (Acts 2:22Acts 2:22
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

reminds us in a very succinct way of God’s witness to Jesus as well as the apostles.

Then, 2,000 years later, men, who are not in any way witnesses, and who offer no witness whatsoever, question the undeniable evidence?

Nevertheless, the Lord prophesied that he would blind the Jews’ eyes and harden their hearts in Isaiah 53:1Isaiah 53:1

English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: 38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: 15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

He points to these times in 1 Timothy 4:1-2; 21 Timothy 4:1-2; 2
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

4 1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 2 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; exhort: or, desire 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. authority: or, eminent place 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. to...: or, a testimony 7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. 8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; broided: or, plaited 10 But with good works. 11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

2 1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. pernicious ways: or, lascivious ways, as some copies read 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
