Transforming our spiritual heart

ARE YOU TRANSFORMED?

Spring is the time of year in which God transforms this earth.  This is when barren trees and dormant bulbs peak out in splashes of green and colorful blooms.  These changes that bring the earth back to life also renew in us a spirit of enthusiasm and excitement.  We sometimes want to transform things by completing projects around the house, making our lawns nice and green, and planting flowers and vegetable gardens.

But, the most important thing we can transform is our spiritual heart.

Just as God can transform this earth into something beautiful, He can do the same with us.  He instructs us how to do this in Romans 12:1-2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Contrary to what many think, God does expect sacrifice and transformation of the Christian.  He longs for us to be a transformed people that will show His love to this world of hate.  He wants us to be transformed into a people who has learned how to forgive wrongs (Eph. 4:32).  He wants us, as women, to be transformed into those who are able to teach other women the things proper for sound doctrine (Titus 2:1-5).

Our Lord desires that we be transformed into those who are strong enough to contend for the faith once delivered to all (Jude 3).  He wants us to be transformed into those who have the courage to take His Word to those in sin, even though many will reject it (Matt. 7:14; 28:18-20; Mk. 16:15:16).  He wants us to be transformed to the point that we are willing to suffer persecution for His name (2 Tim. 3:12; Acts 5:41).

Are you transformed???
