There was a man named Nicodemus
A ruler with great might.
He was also a Pharisee,
Who came to Jesus by night.
He came to tell the Master
That he had observed His power,
And no man could do these miracles
Except God be with Him each hour.
The answer came from Jesus,
Verily, verily I say unto thee,
Except a man be born again
He can’t even the kingdom see!
But Nicodemus did not understand
Just what the Master had told,
How can he enter his mother’s womb
And be born when he is old?
But Jesus began to clarify
This matter of a New Birth,
A man must be born of water and spirit
While he dwells here on this earth.
Jesus made it emphatic
If a man would enter in,
Being born of the water and spirit
Is being born again.
Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh,
Born of the Spirit is spirit.
Many are confused today,
And some refuse to hear it.
But let us take heed to the message
For the Saviour is our Friend,
He said, “Marvel not, that I said unto thee,
Ye must be born again.”
The wind blows where it listeth
And thou hearest the sound thereof,
We cannot tell its direction or origin
But we know it’s controlled from above.
So is everyone that is born of the Spirit,
They are directed by an unseen force,
The words that were brought by the Spirit,
Put them on a heavenly course.
Nicodemus answered and said unto Him,
“How can these things be?”
And Jesus answered and said unto him,
“Art thou a master of Israel,
And knowest not things like these?”
So if you have never been born again,
Of supposition, there is no room,
You must come forth from the water
Just like you came forth from the womb.
But you must go into the water
Or from it, you cannot come forth,
There must be enough water to cover,
So you cannot be sprinkled or poured.
That’s why John was baptizing in Aenon
near Salim,
Because there was much water there,
So turn in your Bible to John the third chapter,
And John, this truth will declare.
