BIBLICAL HOMES – “The Last Time”

When my youngest graduated from college I took many pictures.  It was a beautiful day, but little do we know what life has in store during those moments.  We don’t think about the brevity of life nor how fragile it is during those joyous moments, only the event of the day.  Within one year all would drastically change.  But I have the pictures of the last one graduating, the last pictures of my husband and son together,  the last pictures of a meal together, the last spring together, the last birthday together, the last smiles, the last truck, the last day of school, all memories now, frozen in time.  Others were in those pictures as well, though I never knew them, but I have wondered what happened in their lives since that day.

“I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding; nor yet favour to men of skill;  but time and chance happeneth to them all.”    Ecclesiastes  9:11

At times one wants to reach through those pictures and try and retrieve those moments and bring those we love back, but it cannot be.  The point is, you never know it is the last time, until there is no more time.

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:  A time to be born, and a time to die;  a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;  A time to kill, and a time to heal;  a time to break down, and a time to build up;  A time to weep, and a time to laugh;  a time to mourn and a time to dance;  A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;  a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;  A time to get, and a time to lose;  a time to keep, and a time to cast away;  A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;  A time to love, and a time to hate;  a time of war, and a time of peace.”       Ecclesiastes 3:1-8”

I write about these moments to help us see time is precious and we never know what a day may bring forth.  In one moment, all can change.

“Boast not thyself of tomorrow;  for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”   Proverbs 27:1

Learn to savor each moment of your life, and a full life is filled with obedience to the Gospel, and service to Him.  The most gratifying you will live.  And when death comes, as it will to all,  you will never have to worry where you will spend eternity,  “. . . . . .and when He comes for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me.  My colors will be clear.”

“And let us not be weary in well doing:  for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”  Galatians 6:9

“Did you ever look at a picture of yourself, and see a stranger in the background?  It makes you wonder how many strangers have pictures of you.  How many moments of  other people’s lives have we been in.  Were we a part of someone’s life when their dream came true, or were we there when their dream died?  Did we keep trying to get in?  As if we were somehow destined to be there or did the shot take us by surprise.  Just think, you could be a big part of someone else’s life, and not even know it.”     ~ Scott

“We can never turn back the pages of time, though we may wish to relive a happy moment, or say goodbye just one last time.  We never can, because the sands of time continue to fall and we cannot turn the hourglass over.”      ~ Unknown
