OMG

While looking at various articles the other day on social media, I kept seeing posts using OMG.  Most know what the letters stand for.  Recently, I am seeing the letter F between the M and G.  A most irreverent, profane and shameful name which should not be used any time, and certainly not when addressing our Creator.  When posting articles, be sure and look before posting.  Some, though not meaning to, will post an otherwise good article, and the importance of the article is lost when these letters come up, and it is not just these letters which are a problem.  Sometimes I have had to message people and tell them to remove their posts because profanity was used below the title.   Don’t lose your influence for good when posting.  As the old adage instructs,  Look before you leap.”

“Most High.  The original means high, Exalted, and the translators understood the post used it in reference to God in contrast to His foes.  Other names and appellations bear out His Highness:

– God of Israel     Exodus 24:10     Israel’s God.

– Jehovah     Psalm 83:18       I AM, the eternal living One.
– Father      John 6:37       Everything a father is.
– Creator    Ecclesiastes 12:1      Originator.
– Almighty     Job 8:3     Omnipotent.
– King   Psalm 29:10      Supreme lawgiver.
– Saviour    Isaiah 45:15     Redeemer of the sinful.
– Rock   Solid support.  Firm Defense.

Hallowed be His name.  Speak it with awe.  Indeed, we need a relationship with Him, but don’t let it be COMMON or FLIPPANT.  For He i the Most High.”
~ Leroy Brownlow

We read in Matthew 6:9-13 of Jesus’s model prayer.  Notice how He addressed His Father.  “After this manner therefore pray ye:  Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be
Thy name . . . .”    Hallowed means:  “Set apart from common.  Very respected and praised because of great importance . . .”

Always remember to reverence His name, and not fall into slovenly habits of speech without thinking.  Our Father is listening.

“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.”     Exodus 20:7
